Gems, Kingdom Stars and Gold: What's the Difference?

Gems are Kingshot's premium currency. They pay for Hero Roulette spins, VIP time, the second builder and most of the shop. You do earn Gems by playing — daily quests, events, achievements, alliance rewards and gift codes — but free income falls behind once Town Center upgrades start taking days instead of minutes.

Kingdom Stars are the voucher sold on the official Century Games web store, worth 1 US cent each. They're a payment method for eligible in-game packs, not a currency you spend on their own.

Gold is not a premium currency. It's a regular resource that comes mostly from Conquest idle income and your Houses, and you spend it on Academy research and building upgrades. A site advertising a "Kingshot Gold top up" has its terms mixed up. Don't confuse it with Truegold, the late-game material covered below.

Best Kingshot Packs to Buy First

If you're a low spender, the order that gets the most out of a small budget is:

1. The Construction Queue Pack. A permanent second builder doubles your construction throughput for the life of the account. F2P players rent one with Gems during big pushes; paying once ends the rental cycle.
2. The Ultra Value Monthly Card. Daily Gems, extra stamina and 30 days of VIP time make it the most consistent value in the shop — as long as you log in to claim it.
3. One weekly card that matches what's slowing you down: speedups early on, Hero Gear or Governor Gear mid-game, Truegold once you reach TC30. Buying every weekly card is how small purchases turn into a big monthly bill, and most guides rank the Pet Weekly Card last.
4. VIP Special Packs if you were going to buy Gems anyway. The Gems match a plain recharge of the same price, but the hero shards, VIP XP and speedups come on top.

Event packs only make sense when you'll actually reach the milestone they feed. A big discount on a reward track you won't finish isn't a deal.

Where to Spend Gems in Kingshot

The most common mistake is burning Gems on speedups in the first weeks. Timers are short, Gems feel plentiful, and skipping a five-minute build seems harmless. By mid-game those were the Gems you needed for Hero Roulette.

Hero Roulette is where most experienced Governors put their Gems. A 10-spin costs 13,500 Gems and rewards land at fixed spin milestones, so save up and spin in one go instead of chipping away. Only spin for a hero who fits your march lineup — shards for a hero you'll bench are wasted.

VIP has two parts that are easy to confuse: your VIP level is permanent, but its perks only work while VIP time is active, at 10,000 Gems per 30 days. Activation starts paying off around VIP 4. Levels compound nicely up to VIP 8; VIP 9 alone needs 350,000 XP, which is hard to justify for most accounts.

Is the Kingshot Monthly Card Worth It?

It depends on how you play, not how much you spend. The Ultra Value Monthly Card pays out daily for 30 days, so it rewards consistency. If you open the game most days, it's among the best value per dollar in Kingshot. If you play in bursts around events, half the rewards go unclaimed and a one-time pack you use right away is the better buy.

Weekly cards work the same way on a shorter cycle. They're a cheaper way to test whether you'll claim daily before you commit to a monthly card. Activate a card when you know you'll be active, not right before a week away.

Late Game: Truegold and TC30

Past Town Center 30, buildings move into Truegold levels (TG1 and up), and Truegold becomes the new bottleneck. Daily sources like the Truegold Crucible and Watchtower Intel missions help, but upgrading the Town Center and your troop buildings eats Truegold fast. That's why spending shifts at this stage: the Truegold Weekly Card and Truegold event packs start to beat Gem packs for value.
