3. Eliminating "Animation Snapping"
Complex idle animations often suffer from "snapping" (or the "drop-bench" effect)—where a character abruptly cuts from a sitting or horizontal pose to a standing frame when the player moves.
The Challenge: Columbina often idles in a horizontal floating position, making the transition to movement notoriously difficult.
The Solution: HoYoverse implemented over a dozen specific transition frames for her legs. When cancelling an idle animation to move, her legs naturally swing down to catch the momentum, blending perfectly into her floating run without any jarring lag or visual glitches.
