Genshin Spending Guide 2026: Welkin Moon, Battle Pass and Crystals Ranked
Not every Genshin purchase is worth the same: the best and worst buys differ by roughly ten times per dollar. This guide ranks what to buy first, shows the maths behind the Welkin Moon, Battle Pass and Genesis Crystals, covers what the Welkin costs and how to pay less for it, explains the Version 7.1 double-crystal reset, and sets out what each budget realistically gets you.

Buy the Welkin Moon first, then any crystal tier still showing a double bonus, then the Gnostic Hymn. Repeat crystal packs are the worst value per dollar, so leave them for last.
01 The Value Order: What to Buy First
If you only remember one thing from this page, make it this ranking. Here is what each purchase returns for every dollar you spend, converted into Primogems:

The common mistake is starting at the bottom of that list. Someone who wants a character right now buys a large crystal pack, when the same money spread across the Welkin Moon and unclaimed double-crystal tiers would have produced far more.
02 Is the Welkin Moon Worth It?
Yes, and it isn't close. The Blessing of the Welkin Moon costs $4.99, the same price as the 300-crystal pack, but it pays out in two parts: 300 Genesis Crystals the moment you buy it, plus 90 Primogems every day for 30 days when you log in.
Run the comparison. The 300-crystal pack bought a second time gives you 330 crystals once. The Welkin Moon gives you the same 300 upfront, then adds 2,700 Primogems across the month, 3,000 in total. For identical money that's roughly nine times the currency, which is about 18 extra wishes a month.
The one condition
You have to log in to collect the daily Primogems. A missed day is gone for good, not saved for later. Miss a week and you've thrown away about a fifth of what you paid for. If you play most days it's the easiest decision in the game; if you log in twice a month, it stops being a bargain.
Stacking and timing
Buying several Welkins adds days rather than raising the daily amount, and the game won't sell you another once more than 180 days remain. So there's no efficiency gain from buying several at once beyond convenience. Start it now rather than waiting for a banner: 30 days of Primogems is worth more than perfect timing.
03 Welkin Moon Price and How to Pay Less
The Welkin Moon is $4.99 in the US store, and the in-game shop shows the local price for your region. The item is identical wherever you buy it: 300 Genesis Crystals plus 30 days of daily Primogems. The only thing that changes from one channel to another is what you pay.

Why UID top-up stopped being the cheap option
For years, the usual way to get a cheaper Welkin was a UID top-up: give a site your player ID and the item arrives without sharing a password. UID top-up prices have since been brought close to the official rate, so there is little left to save there. The discount has moved to login top-up, where the purchase is made in the shop on your own account. That also means every bonus and event your shop shows applies to the order.

04 Double Crystals: The First-Purchase Bonus and the 7.1 Reset
Every Genesis Crystal tier doubles its output the first time you buy it. That's not your first purchase overall but the first purchase of each individual tier, so six tiers means six separate doubling opportunities.

The bonus resets, roughly once a year
HoYoverse restores the double bonus on all six tiers about once a year, timed with the anniversary update. The most recent reset arrived with Version 7.1 in September 2026, alongside the 7.1 anniversary rewards. Two rules matter:
How to use it
Claim the doubles on the tiers that fit what you were going to spend anyway, before repeating any tier. Buying all six once gives 26,160 crystals, against 15,680 for the same money spent on repeats. But don't jump to the $99.99 tier just to claim its double if you'd never spend that much. The doubles don't expire until the next reset, and the smaller tiers carry the biggest relative gain. 05 Is the Battle Pass Worth It?
The Gnostic Hymn ($9.99) is the paid Battle Pass track for each version. Across the full track it pays 680 Primogems and 4 Intertwined Fates, plus a 4-star weapon of your choice, Mora, Hero's Wit and weapon materials. On currency alone that matches a first-purchase double, and the materials push it clearly ahead. The catch is that you only get it all if you finish the track.
The Gnostic Chorus ($19.99) includes the Hymn, ten instant levels and a small item bundle. You're paying for time saved rather than better value, so it only makes sense if you know you won't reach the end otherwise.

The pass unlocks retroactively: levels earned before you buy still count, so buying partway through a version costs you nothing, as long as enough time remains to finish.
06 What Your Budget Actually Gets You
Welkin only
The single most efficient way to spend on Genshin. Combined with free Primogems from events, quests and Spiral Abyss, a running Welkin puts most players within reach of one limited character per version. For a lot of accounts this is all you need.
Welkin plus Battle Pass
The standard setup for regular players. You get steady Primogems, reliable Fates, and the Mora and materials to build what you pull. That matters more than most people expect: pulling a character you can't level is a common and frustrating trap.
Welkin, Battle Pass and crystal packs
Once both subscriptions are running, extra crystals are how you secure a specific banner. Work through the unclaimed double tiers first, which is where the remaining efficiency is. Beyond that you're paying base rate, and the honest advice is to buy only what the banner in front of you needs rather than stockpiling.
Whatever level you land on, decide the number before you open the shop. Gacha pricing is designed to make "just one more" feel small, and it adds up quietly.
07 Before You Pay: A Quick Top-Up Checklist
You're buying Genesis Crystals, not Primogems. Crystals convert to Primogems 1:1 in the in-game shop; only the Welkin's daily payout arrives as Primogems directly. A seller advertising "Primogems" is being loose with wording at best.
Check your server and login details twice. Pick the server your character is on (America, Europe, Asia or TW/HK/MO), because crystals can't be moved between servers. For a login top-up, a typo in the email or password is the most common reason an order gets held up.
Know why login top-up is now the cheaper route. UID top-up prices have moved close to the official rate, so most of the remaining discount is on login top-up, which buys in your own shop and keeps every bonus it shows. Our UID vs login guide covers the trade-off.
Have your verification code ready, then change your password afterwards. If two-step verification is on, keep your inbox open during the order. Use a password you don't share with your email or bank.
Ignore "free Primogem generators". They don't exist; they collect logins. Keep your order record so support can trace any issue.
08 Four Ways People Waste Money
Buying crystals before the Welkin Moon
The most expensive mistake in the game, and the most common. Sort the subscription first, then don't let days lapse.
Repeating one tier while others still show a double
Same money, roughly half the crystals. After a reset like 7.1's, check every tier again.
Pulling without the resources to build
A 5-star at level 1 does nothing. Mora and materials are part of a character's cost, not an afterthought.
Chasing a lost 50/50 with an unplanned top-up
Losing the coin flip is a design feature, not bad luck. Deciding your ceiling before you start keeps that moment from getting expensive.
