How Our Pokémon TCG Pocket Top-Up Works

This is a login top-up, not a code or a gift card. What Is Poké Gold? Prices and Best Uses

Poké Gold is the premium currency of Pokémon TCG Pocket. 1 Poké Gold cuts 2 hours off the pack timer, so 6 Poké Gold opens one extra pack and 60 opens a 10-pack. Here are the standard in-app prices for reference:

What to spend Poké Gold on

• Open packs now: skip the pack timer when you're out of pack stamina and Pack Hourglasses. 6 Poké Gold per pack, 60 for a 10-pack.
• Refill Wonder stamina: when the card you need appears in Wonder Pick and your stamina is empty, Poké Gold cuts the wait.
• Shop bundles: accessory bundles such as coins, sleeves and playmats, many of them available for a limited time only.

Note that the Premium Pass is a separate monthly subscription and is not bought with Poké Gold.

Free Poké Gold and the 720-per-day limit

The only free source of Poké Gold is Trainer level-up rewards. It's a nice bonus, but it trickles in far too slowly to keep up with a new expansion.

There's also an official cap to know before you buy: you can spend up to 720 Poké Gold per day on skipping pack wait times. That's 120 packs a day, and the limit resets every day at 6:00 a.m. UTC. If you want to push hard on launch day, having your Poké Gold ready in advance is the fastest way to do it.

Deck building

Decks are exactly 20 cards, with up to 2 copies of any card with the same name. With such a small deck, you'll draw your key cards often, so build around one main attacker and cut anything that isn't pulling its weight.

How it differs from the physical TCG

• Guaranteed Basic Pokémon: your opening hand of 5 always includes at least one Basic Pokémon, so there are no mulligans.
• Energy Zone, not Energy cards: Energy is generated automatically each turn and attached by hand, so it never takes up deck space. The player going first gets no Energy on turn one.
• Points instead of Prize cards: knocking out a regular Pokémon is worth 1 point, a Pokémon ex is worth 2, and a Mega Evolution Pokémon ex is worth 3. First to 3 points wins.
• 10-card hand limit: once your hand is full you stop drawing, so keep playing cards.
